Frequently Asked Questions

Painting process & technique

Do you paint on location or in your studio?

A little bit of both. I travel often for reference material. I hike, photograph, sketch, and paint small works outdoors on location. My larger works on canvas are done in my studio, referencing these photos, sketches, and my memories. I seek to capture a moment or memory rather than the literal translation of a scene. It is my emotional attachment to the places I paint that influences much of my style and color choices.

What medium do you use?

I work almost exclusively with acrylics.

Are your paintings of real places?

Yes. I take artistic liberties from time to time, but every painting references a real location.

Purchasing & online orders

Can I visit your studio?
Sure! Purchasing art online can be difficult.
Due to COVID-19 I'm limiting the number of people visiting my home studio to those interested in viewing original artwork only. Contact me to set up a time you can come visit my home studio.

Can I order larger sizes of your reproduction prints?

I no longer offer prints in larger sizes than those listed on my website.

How much does shipping cost?

All prices listed on my website include shipping within the contiguous United States. Please contact me with your address to request a shipping quote for international orders.

Can I pick up my order?

My home studio is not currently set up for order pickup. I hope to offer this as an option in the future, but at this moment, all orders will be shipped.

How can I see your paintings in person?

Check my show schedule to see where I'll be. I update this page often.

I also offer home visits! If you are in the Austin area, contact me to schedule a free home consultation for original works. I will bring my paintings to you and you can see how they look in your home! Live elsewhere? I will visit most places in Texas for a small deposit that can go towards a future purchase. Contact me for more information.

Can you create a custom painting for me based on an image I have?

Yes! I work on commissioned landscape paintings for people based on photos from their vacations and travels. A commissioned painting is a great way to capture a special memory or place in a way you will cherish forever.

I love working on custom projects, but I also work in a specific style that might not be right for some landscapes. Send me the image(s) you have in mind and I will let you know if I think I am the right artist for you.

How much does a custom painting cost?

I work in two different formats: large-scale paintings on stretched canvas or small-scale paintings on wood panel. Please contact me to request pricing on custom work.

How long will it take?

I take a limited number of commissions each year. Please contact me for my current availability or to put your name on the waiting list for commissions.
