Studio Updates

This is my first of a weekly blog series I am beginning. I will be posting weekly studio updates, sharing finished pieces, works in progress, show dates, and other news.

I’ve had this painting floating around, unfinished for about 6 months and I finally decided to tackle it again. Sometimes when a painting is going so well, it is really difficult for me to pick up a brush and work on it again in fear that I will ruin it. Does anyone else have this problem?! It’s a silly reason not to work on a painting, especially because I finished it and I absolutely love it! I know artists should not fall in love with their own work – but I could not help it with this one.

“Pop” is a bit of a continuation of my Multiplicity series, with a little bit of a new style: using thicker paint and less defined forms.

I have also completed this mountain scene from Big Bend – Santa Elena Canyon. Fun fact about this canyon: one side is Mexico and one side is the U.S. My mountain paintings are becoming friends – I love that all the paintings from this series look good grouped together.

Santa Elena will be available for purchase online soon – keep a lookout!

My piece Love Locks from my Multiplicity series will be on exhibit at 120ART in Taylor, Texas as part of a group show, Terms of Endearment. The opening will be February 19 at 5pm.

My painting Orange Bend was selected to exhibit in the VAA 32nd Juried Open Exhibition at Williams Tower in Houston, Texas. The opening will be March 11 at 6pm.
